Since moving in a year ago, we have been working on the land and shop in preparation for all the farmhouse projects to come. We also wanted to see all the seasons from the current windows before any major renovations. The windows in the main living space are not original to the farmhouse. First a barn with very few windows, if any, the original walls are shiplap and the ceiling appears to be tongue and groove. We peeled back two layers of paneling. The first layer was added in 1969 from our guess and from the Ladies Home Journal ads folded over to act as a shim. Sheetrock covered the two layers of wallpaper over the shiplap. As my niece now calls the look – papier-mâché walls. What a story they tell.
